My graduation thesis explores those communication methods adopted by some social realities which have been defined as underground. Realities that have helped create new collective imaginaries through the creation and use of media. These unconventional media have made it possible to explore other perspectives of society, by spreading innovative behaviors and habits and creating an effective collective heritage of social values. Going through contents, languages and forms submitted by unofficial editorial channels like the fanzines, I extracted a genuine debunking picture of contemporary reality, told by its direct protagonists.

More specifically I collected, catalogued and analyzed 459 Italian punkzines produced between 1977 and 1990.



Linked to the book, I designed a sample of a digital platform which archives all the fanzines and allows users to add their own.
